Euroson Launches New Digital Mobile Unit With Switching, Synchronizer, Infrastructure Solutions From Snell & Wilcox

--

Euroson, a French company providing rental, sales, and consulting services for the European broadcast and production industry, has purchased a range of equipment from Snell & Wilcox that integrates into a mobile flypack system designed for live event production such as concerts and conferences. The order includes IQ Modular infrastructure equipment, a standard definition switcher, and a synchronizer/timebase corrector.

"In our market, which includes corporate production, we must be competitive to attract new business, and Snell & Wilcox equipment offers a cost-effective solution that will help us to provide dynamic productions to this client base," said Etienne Beaussart, manager of video technology for Euroson. "Snell & Wilcox solutions are user-friendly systems that offer very good quality at a good price point, and we have found the company's local representatives to be very responsive to our needs."

Euroson has installed the new Snell & Wilcox equipment in a new digital mobile studio with state-of-the-art technology capable of accommodating complex productions. The new flypack, which joins two analog mobile studios already in use at Euroson, includes the IQ Modular infrastructure, 23 IQ boards, the Golden DaVE SD1012 switcher, and the Kudos Plus TBS100 synchronizer/timebase corrector.

Snell & Wilcox IQ Modular infrastructure products are the smart building blocks that bridge and interconnect a broad variety of broadcast equipment. The IQ Modular infrastructure implemented by Euroson in its flypack switching room is controlled via Snell & Wilcox's RollPod, a fully user-configurable control panel for interfacing to RollCall-enabled equipment.

The SD1012 switcher is part of the latest range of powerful, cost-effective switchers from Snell & Wilcox. It combines 10-bit operation at full 270 Mbit/s standard definition bandwidth with ease of use and a comprehensive array of features including 12 video/key inputs (expandable to 24), a single mix/effects architecture, 100 wipe patterns, and three keyers, one of which is a DSK and Aux bus control. Options include 14 color correctors, border generation, and chroma keying, plus multiple-channel DVE that allows for four full-bandwidth video tiles with flying keys or six full-bandwidth DVE tiles on-screen simultaneously.

The TBS100 from Snell & Wilcox provides multi-standard Y-C and composite timebase correction and synchronization. The composite input automatically detects PAL, NTSC, NTSC-J, PAL-M, PAL-N, N4.4 and SECAM, and is sampled and decoded using an adaptive line comb filter to ensure optimum decoding performance.

"The options that Snell's DVE provide for our operators will add real value to the services we offer," concluded Beaussart. "We're able to deliver excellent video quality with a much-improved degree of flexibility."
