Delta Tre Monitors and Controls
Entire European System with
Snell & Wilcox RollCall
--
5 September 2003, TURIN -- Delta Tre, the broadcast graphics software and sport OB facilities company based in Turin, Italy, has implemented Europe-wide remote monitoring and control of its entire system via RollCall and IQ Modular from Snell & Wilcox. Delta Tre provides the technology, technical services and on-screen graphics for many of the world's most prestigious sporting events including FIFA World Cup football, the Commonwealth Games and other major European sporting events. The company has 14 OB trucks and two fly-away systems to take host broadcasters' feeds at each event and add graphics for transmission. These trucks travel to each event and then dial in to Turin via ISDN. When connected to Turin, the main office can control and monitor all of the equipment in each of the OB trucks via the RollCall system. Each of these trucks and fly-away systems have three Snell & Wilcox IQ Modular frames with audio and video distribution, keying and composite encoding. Also included is a RollCall network monitoring and control system; with a full set of 'RollMap' schematics showing the signal paths of the trucks and the state of all frames. When the ISDN link is not active, the trucks are self-contained, self-sufficient units. RollCall is a networked monitoring and control system that defines new levels of effective and efficient operation for broadcast systems. The status and adjustment of any amount of equipment, both Snell & Wilcox and other manufacturers, can be easily and rapidly accessed from one, or many points as required on anything from a local to a global scale. RollMap provides the ability to superimpose live logging information onto user-defined pictures or schematic diagram, building simple-to-navigate real-time operational monitoring and control environments. Combining experience in information technology and broadcasting systems, Delta Tre has developed mobile, plug-and-play, fully integrated multimedia vans that travel all over Europe. The open architecture of the vans allow Delta Tre to build specific systems to import whatever material is required - video, audio, graphics, statistics - and then redistribute it to the appropriate media partners; a perfect solution for the requirements of on-location sport, news and event production.
