Snell & Wilcox Demonstrates Seamless SD/HD Integration at KOBA 2005
--
At KOBA 2005, Snell & Wilcox will showcase a variety of future-proof studio products, including Kahuna, the world's first production switcher offering simultaneous HD and SD operations in the same frame that scooped five independent awards at NAB 2005. Kahuna's extraordinary flexibility enables users to work initially in SD-only or HD-only mode, and then upgrade to multiformat SD/HD operation whenever they choose. In multiformat SD/HD mode, Kahuna's unique FormatFusion technology allows SD sources to be seamlessly integrated into HD productions and vice versa, with no need to purchase expensive HD upgrades or extra HD upconversion equipment. Also highlighted at the KOBA will be a new generation of products designed for flexibility and ease of use in pressured operational environments: New IQ Modular Components with added functionality 25 new IQ Modular components that all have the capability to operate in either SD or HD resolutions, giving studio operators the freedom to manage multi-format broadcasting with ease. New components include converters, synchronizers, distribution amplifiers, routers, and audio modules. Motion Compensated Standards Converter with Ph.C Operating between standard definition analog and digital video systems, Alchemist Ph.C motion-compensated standards converter offers high quality standards conversion in a compact 3RU package at a highly affordable price. Broadcaster friendly compact HD switcher The HD1012 production switcher offers the best compromise on size without limiting performance. It offers a powerful 1.5 M/E architecture and the same useful framestores, touch screen interface, internal stills store and DMEM store as its parent switcher, the HD1024, in a practical, compact, 12-input casing. Cost effective cross converter Ukon - a Universal Conversion Platform, designed for real world applications, where precise lip-sync, and time-code integrity are important considerations. "Broadcasters are increasingly reliant on multiple transitions, be it analog to digital, SD to HD, tape to file. We also see a growing need for studio solutions that are space-efficient," comments Mark Parlett, Managing Director, Snell & Wilcox Asia Pacific. "To stay ahead, broadcasters need high quality tools to handle these transitions from enclosed environments. The Snell & Wilcox equipment showcased at KOBA demonstrates that these needs can be served in a cost effective manner, and without compromising ease of use." Snell & Wilcox can be found at stand number 207 at KOBA 2005. For more information visit http://www.koba.or.kr/
