Snell & Wilcox showcases future proof studio solutions at Broadcast Asia 2005

At Broadcast Asia 2005, Snell & Wilcox will showcase a variety of cutting edge technologies that offer broadcasters future proof studio solutions to ease their transition from standard definition (SD) to high definition (HD).

Highlights of the show include the official Asian debut of Kahuna, the acclaimed winner of five independent awards at NAB 2005, and the first production switcher to offer simultaneous SD and HD operations in the same mainframe with the same control panel. The new, compact Alchemist Ph.C. Standards Converter will also be on display, the most cost-effective phase motion compensated standards converter using phase correlation on the market.

A range of other new solutions will be shown for the first time in Asia, such as:

• RollSNMP - A new agent based technology that addresses broadcasters' needs for a comprehensive control and monitoring solution. RollSNMP extends the functionality of S&Ws already hugely popular RollMap, enabling the remote monitoring of any SNMP enabled device via RollMap's user friendly and customizable Graphical User Interface.
• The new, expanded IQ Modular range - Includes 25 new modules that deliver multi-use, future-proof functionality in SD, HD, and hybrid television facilities. The expanded range includes converters, synchronizers, distribution amplifiers, routers, and audio modules - all capable of operating at SD and HD, enabling broadcasters to manage continuous technological change in an intelligent, measured, and cost-effective manner.
• The Kudos Plus CVR400 linear standards converter, a multi-standard broadcast quality 12-bit sampling, 10-bit processing standards converter.
• A variety of noise reduction products including Kudos Plus NRS70, a powerful frame-recursive noise reducer, and Niagra, a state of the art noise and grain management system for high definition film-originated material.

Kahuna was the winner of a host of best-of-show awards at NAB 2005, including the Television Broadcast Top Innovation Award from Creative Planet Communications, Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit, a TV Technology STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award, a Television Broadcast Top Innovation Award, and a Government Video Salute. Kahuna's functionality is based on the latest Format Fusion technology by Snell & Wilcox.
