Snell & Wilcox showcases future proof studio solutions at BIRTV 2005

--

At BIRTV, Snell & Wilcox will showcase a variety of cutting edge technologies that offer broadcasters future proof studio solutions to ease their transition from standard definition (SD) to high definition (HD). The award-winning switcher will also be shown for the first time at a China exhibition. Kahuna is the first production switcher to offer simultaneous SD and HD operations in the same mainframe with the same control panel.

Mr. Mark Parlett, Managing Director, Snell & Wilcox Asia Pacific Limited, said, "Given the recent technological advancement that narrows the cost difference between SD and HD equipment; and the trends for broadcasters to deal with multiple formats. Kahuna is the HD solutions that come at just the right time for Chinese broadcasters to handle the transition in a cost effective manner."

A whole range of new solutions will be displayed at BIRTV 2005 for the first time in China, such as:

  • Alchemist Ph.C. Standards Converter - The most cost-effective phase motion compensated standards converter using phase correlation technology. Operating between standard definition analog and digital video systems, it is also a breakthrough for price performance.
  • TrikKey - This latest SDI system allows three separate downstream sources to be keyed over a background in one compact chassis. Each one of TrikKey's downstream keyers can be independently controlled. The toolset of each keyer enables the user to perform full linear, luminance and self-keys, with the added ability to key sources with soft edges and drop shadows.
  • The new, expanded IQ Modular range - Includes 25 new modules that deliver multi-use, future-proof functionality in SD, HD, and hybrid television facilities. The expanded range includes converters, synchronizers, distribution amplifiers, routers, and audio modules.
  • SwitchPack 16 - The SwitchPack 16 is the new standard in compact SD switchers for live production and post production applications.
