KBS Korea Selects Snell & Wilcox Standards Converters for Incoming International Feeds
--
In a move to increase its capacity for incoming international feeds, Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) has invested in four new Snell & Wilcox Kudos Plus CVR450 Standards Converters to convert content from Europe and other regions for television viewers in Korea. "Korean broadcasters are now seeing interest from their viewers in international content,” said Mark Parlett, Managing Director, Snell & Wilcox Asia Pacific Limited. “Given the numerous standards in the marketplace, broadcasters need to ensure that they can get the content in the right format to suit the local standard. Snell & Wilcox’s CVR450 does the job with rugged portability, high reliability, and low power consumption at an affordable price." KBS, the national state-owned broadcaster, provides news content, entertainment programming, and local and international sports content throughout Korea. KBS will be installing the units in its international line feeds center. The ability of the Kudos Plus CVR450 to receive signals in any format, while providing noise reduction, synchronization and even aspect ratio conversion, will give KBS the tools it needs to distribute signals from anywhere in the world, regardless of original format or quality. "With our CVR450, good quality standards conversion can be a reality for any broadcaster that would like to bring international content to local viewers,” Parlett added. Featuring 10-bit signal processing, the CVR450 Standards Converter is an advanced multi-format 4-field 4-line aperture standards converter providing remarkably high quality while allowing economic applications in multi-channel installations.
