New Additions to Snell & Wilcox Kudos Plus Synchronizer Series Feature Small Size, Flexible Audio and DV Interfaces
--
HAMPSHIRE, U.K. - April 20, 2006 - Six new additions to the Snell & Wilcox Kudos Plus line of go-anywhere broadcast-quality synchronizer and timebase stabilizers pack new audio and DV interface capabilities into minimal space for greater flexibility in handling a broad range of audio and video signal types. The Kudos Plus series from Snell & Wilcox is a comprehensive range of rack-mountable signal processing products that includes frame-rate standards converters, synchronizers, timebase correctors, and noise reducers. The launch of these new products expands the range while at the same time delivering to customers greater functionality in a smaller package for less cost. Offered in a compact ½-width 1-RU box, the six new Kudos Plus TBS series timebase synchronizers work quietly and unobtrusively in a machine room or on a desktop and travel well in flypack systems. With the capacity to handle virtually any source type, they deliver the robust functionality necessary for fixed broadcast, post, and satellite facilities while also meeting the need for low power and space consumption in mobile production units. Each TBS device reduces noise and synchronizes and stabilizes the timebase for SDI, composite analog, and Y-C sources, accepting PAL, NTSC, and SECAM inputs and outputting PAL or NTSC signals of the same frame rate. For input and output of nonembedded external audio types, users can select from three options: professional balanced analog (TBS190AD), balanced AES (TBS190BD), or unbalanced AES (TBS190UD). Three more TBS options add the ability to input and output DV video over an IEEE 1394 (FireWire®) interface with embedded audio and offer the same three options for outputting nonembedded external audio types: professional balanced analog (TBS190ADV), balanced AES (TBS190BDV), or unbalanced AES (TBS190UDV). Embedded audio-handling capability makes the versatile TBS devices from Snell & Wilcox an ideal solution for teleport and lines-in applications for which a wide range of video and audio signals need to be synchronized and stabilized. During ingest, the TBS system ensures picture quality, delivering stable signals - whether from wireless cameras, VHS, or even U-Matic VCRs - for remote newsgathering, postproduction, and duplication houses. In addition to 12-bit sampling and 10-bit processing, the TBS systems' adaptive recursive noise reduction with automatic noise-level detection allows the TBS line to accommodate both broadcast-quality and unstable, noisy sources. Compatibility with Snell & Wilcox's RollCall remote monitoring system enables easy maintenance of TBS devices along with other infrastructure gear.
