--
BURBANK, Calif.- April 24, 2006 - Snell & Wilcox today announced that it is working with HP to enable media companies to meet the challenges of migrating to a data-centric, file-based workflow environment. As part of this collaboration, Snell & Wilcox hardware and software solutions will be integrated into the HP Digital Media Platform (DMP) - an enterprise framework for network-based storage, processing, management, and distribution of digital media assets. The result will be a comprehensive and highly integrated content mastering, encoding, conversion and repurposing, and distribution system. Customers can use the technology to streamline and efficiently manage the assembly and delivery of digital media content and services, and bring these to market in a timely and profitable way. "A truly comprehensive solution for digital workflows is only possible through strategic partnerships in which solution providers concentrate on their core competencies and deliver their expertise as part of a larger solution capable of supplying all of the features and functionality required by the broadcaster or media group," said Joe Zaller, vice president of marketing at Snell & Wilcox. "The combination of HP and Snell & Wilcox technologies creates tremendous opportunities for both companies within digital media markets and provides users with exciting possibilities for leveraging their media assets in order to generate new revenue streams." The first HP and Snell & Wilcox customer implementation will be Los Angeles-based Ascent Media Group (AMG), which will use the system to migrate its clients' tape-based archives to a digitized format. AMG will use Snell & Wilcox hardware and software tools in conjunction with the HP DMP to digitize, process, and repurpose content so that it can be securely and efficiently monetized on a variety of distribution platforms. "Selecting the right technology vendors for the HP DMP is a critical aspect of our success," said Willem de Zoete, vice president and general manager, Digital Entertainment Services, Imaging and Printing Group, HP. "Snell & Wilcox is an industry leader in video encoding, conversion, and repurposing for distribution. Working with them will help HP meet the customer demand for high-quality video processing tools."
