Snell & Wilcox Earns Widespread Recognition for Innovative Media Mastering/Repurposing and Monitoring Solutions

New iCR Automated Content Monitoring Workstation Honored at IBC2006 and Hyperion Content Monitoring System at BIRTV

--

HAMPSHIRE, U.K. -- Sept. 20, 2006 -- Snell & Wilcox today announced that the company's industry-leading media mastering/repurposing and monitoring technologies have been recognized with two more prestigious awards, the IBC2006 STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award from TV Technology Europe and an Outstanding Product Award at the Beijing International Radio, TV and Film Equipment Exhibition (BIRTV).

At IBC2006 the newly released Snell & Wilcox iCR automated content mastering and repurposing workstation was honored with a STAR Award, given to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the broadcast industry. The winning products were selected by a panel of TV Technology editors and columnists, who reviewed a variety of products and examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry.

The iCR enables users to create high-quality digital masters of their content and then repurpose those assets for distribution on multiple revenue-generating platforms. Integrating unique image conditioning, content mastering, quality control (QC), and content repurposing functionality, iCR delivers superior image quality while drastically reducing the time required to repurpose revenue-generating content for multiple media platforms.

Another innovative solution for handling media assets is the Snell & Wilcox Hyperion, which was recognized with an Outstanding Product Award at BIRTV last month. The BIRTV2006 exhibition, a key part of the China International Radio TV & Film Exposition held in Beijing from Aug. 23 to 26, featured 417 exhibitors from 25 countries showcasing their most competitive technologies and products. A panel of judges comprising leading Chinese experts in broadcast and film technologies selected the Hyperion as an Outstanding Product Award recipient after rigorous analysis of all products on exhibit at BIRTV.

Hyperion sets a new standard for content monitoring, using intuitive algorithms that mimic human intelligence to provide dedicated audio, video, and metadata monitoring for all content throughout the broadcast infrastructure, from ingest to transmission. Broadcasters working with Hyperion realize more sophisticated multichannel content monitoring and significant new protections when airing premium, high-value television programs.

"The iCR and Hyperion both address critical capabilities within the broadcast plant by allowing broadcasters to leverage their assets more fully and to protect that content intelligently, throughout the transmission chain," said Joe Zaller, vice president of marketing at Snell & Wilcox. "We're honored that these newer additions to our outstanding product portfolio also have been recognized by industry experts and acknowledged for their value to the broadcast market."
