Mark Olingy Named President of Snell & Wilcox Inc.

Veteran Engineer and Operations Executive Comes From Top Ranks of U.S

--

HAMPSHIRE, ENGLAND, March 9, 2004 -- Mark A. Olingy, a veteran broadcast engineering and operations executive and facilities designer, has been named the new President of Snell & Wilcox Inc.

Olingy comes to Snell & Wilcox, Inc. from WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., where he has served as Director of Engineering & Operations since 1997. While at WJLA, he designed and managed the construction and systems integration of an advanced IT-based television plant that bridges the divide between the analog, SD/HD-SDI and file-based worlds. The 76,000 square foot plant was built from the ground up to be a file-based facility and is among the largest integrated MOS (Media Object Server) call letter broadcast stations in the nation, providing outputs for up to eight simultaneous program channels. Olingy also has experience as a vendor, having worked in sales and business development positions for both Philips and Harris.

Olingy succeeds Dick Crippa, who has served as President since April 2000. Crippa, who has built a strong foundation in the American market for Snell & Wilcox, has been promoted to Executive Chairman of Snell & Wilcox Inc., and will remain active in the business on a daily basis.

"Mark Olingy is an excellent choice to lead our American operation as we continually add to our team and strengthen our commitment to the American broadcast market. Mark is a seasoned. hands-on broadcaster with real-world experience that will be appreciated by fellow broadcasters as they move into the worlds of digital, HDTV and file-based infrastructures," said Simon Derry, Chief Executive of Snell & Wilcox, Ltd. "Because Mark recently built one of the most advanced broadcast stations in the nation, we believe that he will also be seen as a significant resource for our customers. We at Snell & Wilcox are privileged to have him lead our American organization. His talents and experience are extremely complementary to those of Dick Crippa who has done an outstanding job building a solid base for Snell & Wilcox in the American market. We are looking forward to the results of this powerful combination at the helm of our US organization."

Olingy said he is enthusiastic about working with fellow broadcasters as they continually transition their core infrastructure and begin to embrace IT-based facilities. "At a time when television broadcasters face new challenges, they also have extraordinary opportunities to increase their efficiencies and grow their businesses through a wide array of new services," said Olingy. "No other company is better prepared to support this transition-whether through depth of talent or with critical core technologies-than Snell & Wilcox. We have some exciting days ahead!"

Besides his recent work in Washington, D.C., Olingy has prior broadcast station operations and engineering experience at WCBD-TV and WCIV-TV in Charleston, S.C., and at WBRE-TV in Wilkes-Barre, PA. In 1989, he led the $5 million reconstruction effort to rebuild WCIV after the station was destroyed by Hurricane Hugo when it hit the South Carolina coast.

Olingy has also been involved in the design and building of several major television facilities. While serving as Studio Systems Sales Manager with Harris Corporation, Olingy provided integration services on a global basis for major broadcast facilities including The Golf Channel, Georgia Public Television, and Speer Communications in Nashville. As head of the Northeast sales region for Philips, Olingy and staff worked to provide solutions for a diverse range of U.S. broadcast and production facilities.

A graduate of Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania, Olingy is also a multi-engine instrument rated pilot, aircraft builder, ocean sailor, and outdoor enthusiast. He and his wife, Janet, reside in the Washington, D.C. area.
