Snell & Wilcox Names Chip Schneider as Sales Manager for Midwestern United States

Industry Veteran Brings Deep Background in Broadcast and IT to the Snell & Wilcox sales team

--

Santa Clara, CA, May 17, 2004 -- Snell & Wilcox has appointed Chip Schneider, a 20-year broadcast sales and management veteran, as Sales Manager for the Midwestern United States. He will be responsible for all direct and channel sales in the region.

Schneider's broadcast experience ranges from technical field service to business development and sales management. He has worked to acquire knowledge of the broadcaster’s workflow and has the expertise to collaborate with Snell & Wilcox’s customers on how to convert their television facilities from analog and digital to file-based infrastructures.

Most recently, Chip served as Senior Regional Manager and Director of Sales in the U.S. and Canada for EMC Corp, where he focused on turnkey solution development for EMC storage products and broadcast and media sales. At EMC, he gained knowledge of IT technologies while helping his clients install software-based media asset management, content delivery, content distribution, and enterprise storage solutions. Prior to EMC, he served as Business Development Manager for Harris Corporation’s Broadcast Division from 1992 to 2000. During this time, Schneider developed targeted broadcast systems solutions for MPEG-2 encoding and DTV conversion.

"Chip Schneider will be a major asset to our U.S. sales team. His deep roots in broadcast television combined with his recent experience in enterprise data management make him the right man at the right time for this important position as Snell & Wilcox focuses on the next generation of broadcast technology," said Mark Olingy, President of Snell & Wilcox.

Schneider built a reputation at Harris, EMC, and his first employer Midwest Communications for leading sales efforts into new markets. At Harris, he tripled his staff and increased system proposal output while building successful relationships with notable broadcasters such as Georgia Public Broadcasting, The Golf Channel, Discovery Channel and The Weather Channel. At Midwest Communications, he was named a member of the Midwest’s Million Dollar Club for outstanding sales performance after growing revenue within his branch office in excess of $3 million.

"As many broadcasters are still evolving towards a fully digital environment, we’re now beginning to transition to file-based systems. It’s important to understand how the IT transition will impact workflow within the television facility," said Schneider. "Content management and protection, along with disaster recovery and business continuance, are now essential concerns for broadcasters. Snell & Wilcox is leading the movement to bring broadcasters and IT professionals together in an effort to ensure a smooth transition. I look forward to learning more about the needs of my customers and applying Snell & Wilcox solutions to help them achieve their goals.
